Shaving/Trimming: Two nights before your appointment, trim or shave the hair from your pubic area and scrotum. You can use clippers or a sensitive-skin hair removal cream - just be sure to follow the product instructions carefully. What to Wear: On the day of your procedure, wear a pair of firm, supportive underwear. You’ll wear these home afterwards and during your recovery. Yes. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so having a proper meal beforehand helps prevent feeling faint.

Stop aspirin, anti-inflammatories (ie. ibuprofen), fish oil 1 week before the procedure. For any other blood thinners (ie. warfarin or apixaban, please contact Dr Shaun beforehand).

Your consultation will first be done over the phone before your procedure. This is to make sure it’s safe and appropriate for you to proceed and gives you the chance to ask any questions ahead of time. Once that’s complete, your procedure will be scheduled on a separate day.

There is no legal age limit, but vasectomy is intended to be permanent. It’s usually recommended only for men whose families are complete. Younger men, especially those under 25 or without children, are encouraged to think carefully before proceeding.

Sedation is not usually required. A mild sedative tablet can be provided by your GP if you are extremely anxious, but you will need someone to drive you home.
